That line....

I love our school; I love the staff; I love the ethos; I love that my kids love going there every day. There is however one thing i do not like, the parking situation at our school. As our school has got more popular, there are more cars and this year particularly things have gotten a little crazy. There have be altercations between parents, someone "scraped" the school bus with their car, people park in fire lanes, block the buses, even stop and park in the drop off line. Everyday is an adventure!

The school and staff as well as the council and police have all been working to make it better; They brought in a new parking scheme; have taken extra time out of their schedule to implement it. The police have been ticketing people parking illegally or speeding, i hear 50 people have received tickets so far; and yet the chaos continues.

Most of the time I arrive early before the chaos and watch it all happen happy in the knowledge that i am not involved, but honestly does it really have to be this way? My real problem with this whole situation is why can't people act like adults; Why can't you follow a few simple rules; Park sensible; and set a good example for the child in your car. Yes in an ideal world we could all drive up to the door, get out of our car, hug and then watch them walk school, then at the end of the day we'd be first in line to get our kids and drive off first. Lets be realistic, that is just never going to happen, so face the truth, be patient, act responsible and most importantly lets make things safe for all the children at our school.

I really hope things improve, but i tend to think probably not. Certain people are set in their ways and will always be there causing chaos. I just try to stay out of the way and hope that their child will be heading to middle school soon!

On a side note Part of the real problem at the school is the number of parents who drive. So many of them live less than half a mile from the school and could easily walk their kids to school eliminating half the issues. My hat goes of to those who do, especially on those really cold/snowy days. I wish i could!

we"ll be there next year, but thank goodness I can walk there and my mom is on the otherside 2 blocks from school so I can park in her driveway LOL
